We do not recommend rechargeable batteries because:

1) Some brand of rechargeable batteries are slightly larger in diameter and can get stuck in the battery tube.

2) Rechargeable batteries are only 1.2V while recommended alkaline batteries are 1.5V, therefore the laser will not be as powerful.
